Paula Beutien (Pearson) died on July 19th, 1999.

Joe Brunner

My husband Joe Brunner, by wife, Carmen

Joseph (Joe) Brunner died July 31, 2000 at the age of 57.

Preceded in death by his mother, Helen Brunner, and his father, Henry Brunner. He was survived by his wife, Carmen Anderson
Brunner; three sons, Brad Joseph Brunner, Brennen Carl Brunner and Brooks Anderson Brunner.

His death was very unexpected. The day before his death, a Sunday, Joe and Carmen went to church. Following church, Joe came
home and made his wonderful Corn Meal Pancakes. He was a good cook and liked to cook on the weekends. After brunch, Joe
washed and waxed two cars and mowed the grass. It was then off to the Country Club to play 18 holes of golf. Joe played at
least 9 holes of golf every day; weather permitting. In the winter Joe would swing his golf club in the family room causing a hole
or two in the ceiling every year. The following Spring he would fix the ceiling and it looked as good as new. When Joe finished his
golf on Sunday, July 31st, Joe and Carmen went to a movie after dinner. That night as Joe was lying in bed with his wife both
reading books, 17 year old Brooks came in. Brooks said " Good Night" and his dad replied " See you in the morning!"
The next morning Joe did not get up at his regular time and realizing it, Carmen said, "It is past your time to get up", as it was
Monday and a work day. Joe never stayed in bed in the morning. She touched him and he was not breathing. Carmen woke up
Brooks who tried to give him Artificial Resuscitation to no avail. Brooks called 911 and then he and his mother stood out on the
front lawn in night clothes, both in shock, waiting for the ambulance. They knew he was dead.

Carmen called her oldest son, Brad, who lives in St. Paul, and caught him before he went to work. Brad came over immediately
and joined his mother, Brooks, the paramedics, the pastor and the police. Brad then called his brother, Bren, in Seattle who was
just leaving for his morning run. Bren was able to fly home that afternoon. Brooks,17, was to be a Senior at St. Paul Academy
that coming September. Joe's father also died when he was 17 years of age.

Joe and Carmen were married December 28, 1963 at the Wesley Methodist Church in Aurora, Illinois. Their first residence was in
Bloomington, Indiana where Joe was starting his MBA. Joe graduated from Indiana University on June 24, 1965 with a Master of
Business Administration. From Bloomington, the couple moved to Columbus, Indiana where Joe had a job with the Cummins Engine
Company as a Market Researcher. Their first son, Bradley Joseph Brunner was born in Columbus, Indiana.

1968 took them to Racine, Wisconsin, where Joe was Head of Marketing for the Modine Engine Company. After a year or two Joe
changed jobs and went to work for the First Wisconsin Bank in Milwaukee. The Brunners lived in Wind Point on a point of land
that extended into Lake Michigan. A move was not needed for the Milwaukee job. Joe liked the area of Wind Point, and as a
plus... a golf course on the Lake was only a block away. The second son, Brennen Carl Brunner was born in Racine, Wisconsin.
The family felt at home in Wisconsin and when a call came for him to work in Minnesota, there was much discussion. They liked
their house where they lived and the lake nearby. The two boys went to Prairie school, a private school started by S.C Johnson,
half a mile away on the lake. The boys did not want to move! After three rejections to the job offered in Minnesota, Joe and his
family finally moved to Mendota Heights, Minnesota on June 23, 1980 where Joe became the Vice President of the American Bank
and Trust in downtown St. Paul.

He worked at the American Bank and eventually became the President. Joe's last son, Brooks Anderson Brunner was born in
Minnesota. Joe was with the American Bank for over fifteen years and then the bank was sold. Joe decided he wanted a change.
He went to work for the Deluxe Check Company and was employed there when he died.

Joe's oldest son, Brad, works in Research and Development for Procter & Gamble on PUR Water Filters and lives in Saint Paul,
MN.; not far from Carmen. Brad has a cabin up North where he goes to fish or hunt every weekend, as well as a winter fish house
on Mille Lacs Lake. His second son Brennen works as a Mountain Guide for Alpine Ascents International in the Summer and is The
Head of Search and Rescue at The US Antarctic Program's McMurdo Base during the North American Winter. Brooks, the third
son will be a sophomore at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. He is an Honor Student and plans to double-major in Physics and
Philosophy.

Joe Brunner could do anything! He was a carpenter, painter, wall paperer, plumber, etc. He fixed anything and
everything....including the cars. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Saint Paul and eventually became President of the St.
Paul group. He belonged to the Minnesota Club and was on the Board of the YMCA Camp Wijiwagan. . He was a Head of the
Bankers Group of Minnesota. Joe had a good sense of humor and was a great speaker. Joe was invited to Conventions all over
the U.S.A. to speak. He was also a good person to work for and he is greatly missed by his employees. He believed that work
should be fun and he brought that belief to his job. Joe was a voracious reader and was usually reading at least two books at
one time. He had many friends.

We all miss Joe greatly, for there was no one quite like him. His funereal Service was held at the Augustana Lutheran Church, for
the mortuary could not hold the number of people who wished to come and honor him.
H. Joseph Brunner is buried at the Roselawn Cemetery in St. Paul, Minnesota.
